David Beach– Biography
I grew up near the Thames and the Grand Union Canal, where I learnt to row a boat, then moved near to the sea and learnt to sail. Landing at a Greek Island in the ’90s by aeroplane, the view as we turned was of deep blue and turquoise sea, with little boats dotted about. Add to that display cabinets in museums featuring ‘famous events at sea’ that I saw as a child.
All of this formed the basis of this collection of found objects, driftwood and plastic objects combined with paintings in box frames.
I have painted 10 or so murals, two of which were over 100 feet long and depicted a journey from the town to the sea.
I live and work in Glastonbury.
