I was born in and have spent most of my life in Somerset and the West Country.
After leaving school I gained a National Diploma in Art and Design and was self-employed for a few years in a craft centre in Bristol where I knitted brightly coloured jumpers and made individual wedding dresses.
In 1994 I gained an Honours Degree in Surface Design and Printed Textiles and then went on to complete a PGCE, specializing in Textiles.
For the past fourteen years I have been teaching this subject to GCSE and A Level students in a Somerset Academy.
I have always had a passion for Textiles, printing and colour.
I see my work as individual, one-off pieces, often using vibrant colours, found vintage treasures and textural surface alteration. My pieces are a combination of heat-transfer printing, free-machine embroidery, decorative embellishment, screen-printing, mono printing and hand stitching.
